Emerald Viewer vs Lindens? Today is the Day

Supposedly today the people of the Emerald Viewer are having a meeting with the Lindens (Oz Linden) and by the end of the today we will hopefully know the outcome and decision whether or not there will be a future for the Emerald Viewer or we have no choice but to start using the official SL 2.0 viewer or other third party viewers!
I got a preview download last night of a brand, new 'clean" version of the Beta Emerald Viewer which was just released last night and it is the best yet, almost instant rezzing (even in crowded laggy malls) and improvements on many standard, exclusive Emerald features which I have grown to love!

The download for the new 2573 beta for windows is here:
http://emeraldviewer.net/box/Emerald_Viewer_1.5.0.2573.exe

If Emerald stays and works out the drama with Linden Labs I strongly suggest you try this new version (remember however it is still Beta)because it is fantastic so far!

It also has a new feature to allow you to deny or accept friend requests and inventory offers without showing the sender your decision!

As in previous blog posts I have ranted in I did try the majority of the other viewers and if Emerald becomes no more I am giving in and forcing myself to use
Kirstens Viewer

http://www.kirstensviewer.com/

Kirstens Viewer is a hybrid viewer containing the layout, features and options of the official SL 2.0 viewer combined with the regular look and features of the standard old SL/Emerald viewer.
I did try it and figured it all out within 30 minutes. It had radar built in (but does not tell you the distance they are at)BUT it has my mandatory TATTOO LAYER which I need for my complex custom tattoo setup etc.
What I will miss the most from Emerald though is the secondary attachment option which allows you to wear 2 things on 1 attachment point which no other viewer has!
I tried the 2nd most popular third party viewer IMPRUDENCE but it had no voice at all and no 2nd attachment points. The radar is built into the minimap but only worked when the minmap is open on the screen!
Kirstens Viewer gave me the fastest rezz time next to Emerald.
My fingers are crossed but it seems right now a 50/50 chance for Emerald and hopefully today it will come to a head and we will know one way or another!
Good luck Emerald, we love you and will miss you despite the drama and bullshit you caused which was self induced! No I don't trust the Emerald people but their viewer makes my SL experience so much better that I am willing to take a chance!
See you on the other side!

UPDATE: THE VERDICT IS IN...

LL requirements for Emerald

Yesterday, the Emerald Development team received a large list of requirements and conditions from LL. Today we met with LL and reviewed all of those conditions for clarification. At this point, I can safely say that we fully intend to address and fulfill ALL of them as soon as we possibly can. We have been asked not to disclose the requirements at this time.

Although some of these conditions will be very difficult, we feel they are reasonable considering recent events. Due to that difficulty however, some will take more time than others to fulfill. It is a big list of things that we need to do and we will be providing LL with a time frame on each individual item by Friday. Once we have completed these items to the full satisfaction of Linden Lab, we intend to re-apply for the TPVD.

We feel it is important during this time to inform everyone that although Linden Lab has encouraged the use of other viewers, the use of the Emerald viewer is still a decision that is yours to make. Emerald will not be blocked unless we fail to fulfill our requirements in the time allotted.

Linden Lab has told us that they want us to stop using the emkdu.dll or llkdu.dll files because they are not compliant with the GPL. For those wondering what KDU is, it’s a closed source image decoding library which provides a significant speed improvement over the open source alternative. However, since LL wishes us not to use it, I would like to take a step in that direction as a show of faith to the Lab right now. I will ask our users to go into your Emerald install directory while you are not logged into the viewer and delete the file named emkdu.dll. The viewer will continue to function correctly however it will be slower. This is only a request from us and not a requirement. Our next release will not include this file.

In the coming days, some of the older versions of Emerald Viewer may be blocked from logging in at our request, this however will not happen until updated versions are made available on our website.

I would also like to extend a sincere apology to our users for all the confusion over the last few days. It has been a very difficult week for us but we expect things should start too quiet down now.

So in closing, I will reiterate, Emerald Dev Team intends to fully comply with the conditions set out before us by Linden Lab, and we plan to do so within the shortest time frame possible. Use of the Emerald viewer is still your choice and Emerald is not a malicious viewer.

Sincerely, Jessica Lyon

Absolute Viewer Drama and Total Bullshit....Emerald or Bust

This is reposted here from the official Emerald/Modular Systems Blog:
I feel safe enough and love Emerald Viewer enough to take their word...

Emerald and the TPVD

As many of you have heard, Emerald was removed from the TPVD yesterday. This removal was a result of recent actions by former Dev member Fractured Crystal. Fractured resigned from the team due to those actions and Emerald Dev Team has undergone a massive restructuring. We will be re-applying for the TPVD very soon, however there are some rumors and fears I think need to be addressed.

Many people have heard that Emerald is banned or that users will be banned for using the Emerald Viewer. This is completely untrue.

Linden Lab’s Third Party Viewer Directory is optional for third party viewers to apply for and join. It is not a requirement to be on the directory. What is a requirement however is that third party viewers respect the Third Party Viewer Policy http://secondlife.com/corporate/tpv.php. With the exception of the actions of Fractured recently, Emerald has always respected that policy and will continue to do so.

While Emerald is not on the TPVD you can rest assured that this does not mean Emerald will be banned or blocked by LL, and you will certainly NOT be banned for using emerald.

Sincerely, Jessica Lyon

I am so nuts right now with all this Second Life viewer bullshit! What a fucking mess!
I was on the latest Emerald beta viewer that was no longer available but besides the occasional crash I loved it. It had tattoo layers, multiple, much needed attachment points and a nice built in sim-wide radar! With the latest drama with the Modular Systems/Emerald viewer I got fed up, panicked and deleted all Emerald from my computer!
I then downloaded Cool Viewer to try but alas, it would not install, looked everywhere and it was not on my comuter-HATED IT!
Next up I tried the Imprudence Viewer. Wow liked it however the radar was not good and i needed an extra lag inducing radar hud. It had the tattoo layer which is mandatory for me with my custom Ziggy tattoo but it had no multiple attachment points so my excite stuff and slwim stuff never attached.
I gave in and decided to just put up with the new SL 2.0 viewer and same thing! My nipple rings were around my feet, no Slwim and once again I was so dumbfounded and frustrated by the controls that I could not handle it anylonger!
In a blind fit of rage epilepsy I deleted and uninstalled EVERYTHING!
Start again....
I might as well use Emerald and be damned if they do anything unscrupulous! I don't give a fuck anymore! If Emerald is not allowed by Second Life and I get banned unexpectedly for using a viewer that they once endorsed but stopped while giving the general SL population no official notice then I give up on Second Life. Just too much drama and bullshit combined with inworld lag, inventory loss and griefers...
So (oh kids, it's not over yet!)....
I went to the Emerald website to download any version of the Emerald Viewer I could find and lo and behold my ass gets totally dry fucked as I click on download and get a white page saying "Something Bad Happened"! No Emerald??? Is it gone?????
My only recourse was to reinstall the Imprudence viewer and just make do!
My nipple rings are around my ankles so I removed them and manually moved my tits to my chest area. My Slwim is non usable because I refuse to change my attachment points around until I know whats happening with my beloved Emerald viewer and all it's wonderful features!
So in retrospect, I have fucking had it! I am barebones on SL until things get sorted out. Wearing clothing you can loose it from your database...your attachments won't attach....and finally since the fun is gone for me on SL as of right now then this blog will be on hiatus for the time being until something fucking good happens involving Second Life! Since 2007 I have just seen it go downhill on the Lindens side of things making things more infuriating than pleasurable!
Second Life is meant for fantasy and fun were your dreams can come true but in the past year and a half it has become MORE stressful and aggravating than REAL LIFE!

UPDATE:
A friend pointed out to me a way to find an archive page of the 2nd to last download page of the Beta Emerald Viewer and I got it back! I have everything back to the way it was! Thank fuck!
Now it's Emerald viewer or bust, Lindens if you ban me for using Emerald then FUCK YOU however since it looks like 90% of the users still use Emerald your little virtual world may become a fucking ghost town so maybe you need to take a breath and deal with it...

UPDATE 2:

message from Philip Linden

"Late last week, we discovered a denial-of-service attack that was being served through the widely distributed Emerald third-party viewer. This is in direct violation of our third-party viewer policy (part 2, section d, paragraph iii).

We have removed Emerald from the list of third-party viewers, and are now in touch with the Emerald team to discuss what can happen next. We did this to do our best to protect the safety and security of Second Life users. We will not tolerate a viewer that includes malicious code, nor will we tolerate development teams with a history of violating users’ trust or disrupting their lives.

We take privacy, safety, and security very seriously, and we will act to the best of our abilities to protect it. We have not yet disabled logins via the Emerald viewer, but will do so if we feel the software and the team behind it is not able to meet the standards we’ve set. While Emerald is currently the focus of our attention because of what happened recently, all third-party viewers are held to the same standard, and must comply with the third-party viewer policy.

Now a message from SL itself recommending we do not use Emerald Viewer...
Well for reasons all stated above I WILL KEEP ON USING EMERALD until it or myself are banned! I have every confidence that it will be sorted out this week and all will be fine but I LOVE and NEED the features that only the Emerald Viewer has and if this is taken away from me I do not care to return to Second Life!
Once again I repeat myself..I come here for FUN not BULLSHIT and my love of the features outweighs any shenanigans that Emerald staff may have done! I don't care!
So EMERALD OR BUST for me....

IRONWORKS and WAREHOUSE PLAZA-The Last Dance...

Saturday, August 14th, 2010- The last dance at the legendary IRONWORKS CLUB.
It was the last party before the new, fresh AGE OF IRON takes it's place but this was a very sad, emotional night as well as a hell of a celebration of the past 3 years that Ironworks/Warehouse Plaza has stood the tests of Linden time!
The first 2 hours was hosted by the equally fabulous and sexy Kharissa Indigo and DJ Wesley Spengler and I danced my ass off with some old and some new friends but as the night went on I began to realize all my history of this place!
I was first brought to Ironworks some time in 2007 by Paulec Decuir and Dextrum Boucher, Dazza Slade and Alexcub Hax as my very, first original incarnation when I was known as Rex Short. At that time as I remember, Ironworks was a platform in the middle of a field held up by scaffolding. I'm not sure if this was it's original spot or a temporary place while a new club was taking shape but I do clearly remember being with Paulec Decuir and Lathurblue as they showed me around the beginiings of what was to be the new Warehouse Plaza and Ironworks Club!
Paulec showed me some open water and said "this is where the club will be" and I thought what the fuck? Where???? Paulec held a few secret, private, pre-opening parties on the sim before the club was even built and I know I have the pictures somewhere on my hard drive but right now it's early Sunday morning with my cup of tea and I'm just too damn lazy to look for them to post!
As the night went on I also remembered when I killed off my av Rex and was reborn as Rhett Whybrow! I became partnered with Vanyel Gazov and experienced the legendary "After Hours" party's at Ironworks with Vanyel and DJ Queen Edman! This is when I had the most memories and so lo and behold I logged off dear old Ziggy and logged back on at the party as RHETT WHYBROW!
Rhett was born at Ironworks and so I knew he had to return from the grave to party hard at the Last Dance of Ironworks. I mean, those of you who remember the early days of Ironworks know all too well that the dance floor was held together by the spilled DNA of myself, Vanyel, Steve69 as well as countless others who christened the already filthy dance floor night after night!
As Rhett I wore my old, original favorite pair of denim jeans which could most likely walk by themselves and was pointed out to me how rancid they were by Host/Best Friend Larz Kas and DJ Queen Edman who hosted the second part of the night.
Larz said to me and I quote "Where do those stinking things come from and who do those filthy jeans belong to besides the trash man"...
As the party played on the place was being demolished before our very eyes and by the time the night ended and DJ Queen played the last song ever "Last Dance" by Donna Summer, there was nothing left but rubble, burning fires, a transparent dance floor and tears in our eyes...Rhett Wybrow died again for the last time buried somewhere in the rubble of the old Realasm store at Warehouse Plaza!
The Ironworks/Warehouse Plaza is now gone for good but coming September 11 and 12th, 2010 there will be the new AGE OF IRON in it's place and it will be time to create some new memories but god dammit they will never compare to the original, early days of the mighty, legendary Ironworks!!!!!!
Goodbye xxxxxxx (sniff)

Getting Hammered At Wigstock!

Decided to go check out WIGSTOCK at the Marduk Theatre at The Pride Sim put on by DJ Queen Edman and the Ironworks/Age Of iron Club along with my buddies Larz Kas, Damiax Thor, Damir Composer and a few other buddies but we ended up with a table full of fine food and endless drinks and got so shit faced I barely knew who I was or were I was and needed to be carried home....blame it on the alcohol!

Since I was such a pretty mess here is a better pictorial of the event:

Second Life Can Kiss My Pixel Ass!

I finally fucking had it today with Second life!
I attempted to rezz clothing and objects only to get messages saying "Object missing from database"...all gone!
Attemt to change clothes....clothes gone!
Bought items did not get...
I am so sick of this shit I am no longer taking SL seriously and not spending any more significant cash on this "game"!
Second Life is meant as an escape and a fun place to play in but this past year I have become astounded at its downfall! When I first joined in 2007 it worked better (even on a bad computer!) It has gotten so bad with the silly new 2.0 viewer being forced on everyone and then my old blog post about how I sold my old land and was banned for refusing to pay tier on land I did not own anylonger etc etc...then lag being crippling almost daily! It has become a nightmare! Remember in the old days when the Lindens would send out drop downs informing us not to spend anything or rezz anything because of problems inworld? Now it's their "Fuck You" attitude thats gotten me to this point!
Today I sold my beach house and land and decided to just rent a beach house! Its not worth owning land anymore. I refuse to give the Lindens another dime!
I will not renew my yearly membership and for now on I will just go on SL to go to parties and use it when it works but the dream of Second Life has died for me!
When or if the Lindens ever decide to get things in order again then maybe just maybe I will consider shopping or spending cash on this "game" but for now it is nothing but a big rip off machine intended on getting unsuspecting people addicted to it then grabbing all the real cash from you as they can preying on your vanity to look good and live good!
Ya you think Im just bitching like we all do but not this time, the SL world has just gone too far downhill.
If SL ceased to exist at this point I don't think I would give 2 sweet shits!
Someone needs to come along and create a real virtual world to show this bastards how it should be done!

Club Thunder Reopens!!!!

WOOOOOOO.....after talking to my buddy Vanyel Gazov after his return to Second Life after a long absence I feared we might never see the legendary CLUB THUNDER again!
Vanyel had told me he did not think he would ever reopen the club but lo and behold...CLUB THUNDER RETURNED tonight with sexy DJ Kelly Boyington!
